Borkum Riffgrund 03

Borkum Riffgrund 3 is an Ørsted offshore wind farm in the German North Sea, approximately 53 kilometers off the coast of Borkum. With a capacity of 913 MW and 83 Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200 DD turbines, it will be Germany’s largest offshore wind farm. The generated electricity will be sold directly to companies without subsidies through long-term purchase agreements. Commissioning is planned for 2025.
SK Korrosion has prepared six monopiles in Stralsund for this wind farm in 2024.

Dogger Bank "A"

The Dogger Bank “A” is a large, elongated sandbank in the North Sea in the United Kingdom, in some places only about 13 meters below sea level. It is considered the northwestern limit of the Great German Bight. The Dogger Bank “A,” located within the British Economic Zone, is designated a nature reserve. The manufactured monopiles will be installed on the 1.2 GW Dogger Bank “A,” the first phase of the three-phase project. A total of 285 units will be manufactured.

Dogger Bank "B"

Dogger Bank “B” is the second phase of the world’s largest offshore wind farm in the North Sea. With a capacity of 1.2 GW and 95 GE Haliade-X 13 MW turbines, Dogger Bank B will generate enough energy to power millions of British homes. The monopiles will be manufactured by Sif Netherlands and Smulders Projects and installed approximately 130 kilometers offshore. The generated electricity will be transmitted to shore using innovative high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, which minimizes losses. Completion is scheduled for 2024 and marks a significant step forward for renewable energy.

Dogger Bank "C"

Dogger Bank “C” is the third phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the world’s largest offshore wind farm in the North Sea. It comprises 87 GE Haliade-X 14 MW turbines and will generate 1.2 GW of energy, enough to power approximately 1.5 million homes. As with previous phases, electricity will be transmitted to shore using innovative high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology. Turbine installation will begin in 2025, with full commissioning planned for 2026. Together with Phases A and B, Dogger Bank C will secure electricity for a total of 6 million UK homes and further strengthen the UK’s role as a leader in offshore wind power.

Hollandse Kust Nord

Hollandse Kust Noord is one of three areas designated by the Dutch government for offshore wind development. The CrossWind consortium, a joint venture between Shell in the Netherlands and Eneco, was awarded the subsidy-free construction of the wind farm.
SK Korrosion was involved in this project with blasting and spraying work.

Offshore-Windpark Hollandse Kust Zuid

The Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm is an offshore wind farm under construction in the North Sea, located in the Dutch exclusive economic zone outside the 12-mile zone. The wind farm consists of four sub-areas and will be equipped with 140 11 MW SG DD-200 turbines from Siemens Gamesa. The four areas of the wind farm cover a total area of ​​236 km² and are located 18 to 36 kilometers off the South Holland coast in water depths of 18 to 28 meters.

Saint Nazaire Offshore Wind park

The 480-megawatt (MW) wind farm will feature 80 GE Haliade 160-6 MW turbines manufactured in France. According to GE, each Haliade turbine supplies electricity to 5,000 homes; the project is expected to generate 20% of the Loire-Atlantique region’s electricity consumption. The turbines will be installed between 12 and 20 kilometers off the Loire-Atlantique coast at depths of 12 to 25 meters and will cover an area of ​​approximately 78 square kilometers. Enbridge holds a 25.5% stake in the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind project, which is expected to be operational in 2022.

Akita & Nashiro

The first offshore wind farm development in Japan (offshore Akita Prefecture) with a total investment of approximately USD 922 million. The 33No wind turbine development will be installed in a water depth of approximately 30 m and will have a production capacity of 139 MW. It is expected to supply energy to 140,000 households. In the long term, the field is expected to reach a production capacity of 455 MW, supplying electricity to 80% of Akita Prefecture’s households.
SK Korrosion provided surface protection services within the SIF facilities for the 33No monopiles. This was a challenging project, engaging a new customer in a new region and successfully meeting new standards and customer expectations.

Offshore-Windpark Triton Knoll

Triton Knoll is an offshore wind farm under construction in the British EEZ in the North Sea. The wind farm is expected to have an installed capacity of 857 megawatts (MW). Construction began offshore in January 2020, and commercial commissioning is planned for 2022. A total of 90 MHI Vestas V164 wind turbines, each with a nominal output of 9.5 MW, will be deployed. The offshore wind farm was developed by innogy (now RWE). It is located 20 miles off the coast of Lincolnshire.

Borssele [I + II + III + IV]

The Borssele wind farms are located approximately 22 km off the coast of the Dutch province of Zeeland. The offshore wind farms, with a total capacity of 1,400 MW, consist of 85 m long, 6 m diameter monopiles with water depths ranging from 14 to 38 m.
SK Korrosion provided surface protection services within the SIF facilities for the 173 monopiles and delivered this prestigious project to the client’s satisfaction.

SeaMade

SEAMADE is the second offshore wind farm realized by Otary. The SeaMade wind farm consists of two concession zones, Seastar and Mermaid, and has been fully operational since the end of 2020. SeaMade will produce enough sustainable energy to power 500,000 Belgian households annually. The SeaMade wind farm is a combination of the Seastar and Mermaid projects. To achieve the necessary economies of scale, the two projects were merged and partners Engie and Eneco were brought on board. Financing for the SeaMade wind project was completed in a record time of ten weeks. Otary and its partners are managing the development, financing, and construction of the SeaMade wind project from start to finish and will manage the wind farm starting in 2020.

Gemini

One of the largest offshore wind farms in Europe, with a total production capacity of 600 MW, was installed 85 km off the coast of the Netherlands in water depths of 28 to 36 m, generating sustainable energy for 800,000 households.
SK Korrosion provided surface protection services in collaboration with SIF for the supply of monopiles with a diameter of 5 m and lengths ranging from 59 to 73 m, and with Fabricom Antwerp for the supply of the Gemini offshore wind farm’s substation. The project was completed successfully, on time, and within budget for this challenging and prestigious project.

Dudgeon

The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm will be installed approximately 32 km off the coast of Norfolk, UK, in water depths ranging from 18 to 25 m. It will consist of 67No turbines supported by monopiles approximately 7 m in diameter, 60 to 78 m long, and weighing 600 to 1,000 tons each. It is currently the furthest wind farm from the UK coast. The 402 MW offshore wind farm supplies approximately 410,000 UK households with electricity.
SK Korrosion provided surface protection services for the 67No monopiles at the SIF Vlissingen facilities, delivering this prestigious project to the customer’s satisfaction.

Rampion

The Rumpion Offshore Wind Farm is a major offshore wind farm development in the UK, located 13 to 20 km off the coast of Sussex, UK, in water depths ranging from 19 to 40 m. It consists of 116 No. 1 turbines supported by monopiles with a diameter of approximately 6 m, a length of 60 to 85 m, and a weight of 550 to 830 tons. The 40 MW offshore wind farm will supply electricity to approximately 350,000 UK homes.
SK Korrosion provided surface protection services for the 116 No. 1 monopiles at SIF facilities, delivering a high-quality end product.

Baltic II

The Baltic II offshore wind farm will be installed approximately 32 km off the coast of Rügen, with water depths ranging from 23 to 44 m, and will consist of 80No turbines. The 288 MW offshore wind farm will supply approximately 340,000 German households with electricity.
SK Korrosion was involved in the offshore repair work (repairs). All 80No transition pieces were repaired and maintained to the customer’s satisfaction.

DanTysk

The Dan Tysk offshore wind farm will be installed approximately 70 km off the coast of Sylt in a water depth of 21 to 32 m and will consist of 80No turbines. The 288 MW offshore wind farm will supply approximately 400,000 German households with electricity.
SK Korrosion was involved in the repair work (improvements) during the offshore construction phase. All 80No transition pieces were repaired and delivered to the customer’s satisfaction.

Merkur

The Merkur offshore wind farm will be installed approximately 45 km north of the Borkum Islands in a water depth of 23 to 44 m and will consist of 66 No. 1 turbines. The 400 MW offshore wind farm will supply approximately 500,000 German households with electricity. It is GE’s first offshore wind farm development and features a substation installed in a water depth of 25 m with a total weight of 4,200 tons.
SK Korrosion was involved in the surface protection work at onshore substations and in the inspection of the surface protection quality offshore.

Century Glory, Century Cruises, Chongqing/China

Century Glory is Century Cruises’ newest and largest super 5-star luxury cruise ship, deploying new smart technologies on the Yangtze River cruise between Chongqing and Yichang.
SK Korrosion was mobilized to China at short notice, connected with a new customer in a new region, and delivered the ground systems for the Century Glory Cruiseship within a tight schedule.

Superyacht Jubilee, Blohm & Voss, GER

Jubilee is a 110.1 m luxury motor yacht built by Oceanco in 2017. She has a beam of 16.4 m, a draft of 4.4 m, and a gross tonnage of 4,523 tons. Jubilee’s maximum cruising range is estimated at 5,000 nautical miles. She accommodates 31 guests in 16 cabins.
SK Korrosion collaborated with Blohm & Voss (Hamburg) to supply floor systems and a new helideck for the Jubilee superyacht, thus meeting the client’s high quality standards for this prestigious project.

Megayacht Ragnar, Icon Yachts NL

The 68.2-meter luxury vessel with a gross tonnage of 2,450 was converted from an ice-breaker to a megayacht and has a maximum cruising range of 6,000 nautical miles. The vessel features exhibits for polar explorers, luxurious accommodations for 16 guests, a swimming pool, a submarine for ocean explorers, two laser sailboats, a toy deck, and a fully certified helipad.
This was one of the largest ground systems projects SK Korrosion has been involved in. Gangways, ground systems, and a new helipad installation were delivered to the client’s satisfaction.

Gemini Offshore Substation

The Gemini offshore substation is part of one of the largest offshore wind projects in the Netherlands, generating up to 600 MW of electricity.
SK Korrosion performed blasting and applied highly resistant coating systems to the platform structure, stairs, railings, and deck surfaces. Multi-layer corrosion protection systems according to C5M standards were used for the extreme offshore conditions.

Aasta Hansteen Subsea Installation

The Aasta Hansteen platform is the first of its kind on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and is located at a water depth of approximately 1,300 meters.
SK Korrosion was responsible for surface preparation (blasting to SA 2.5), the application of multi-layer epoxy and polyurethane coatings.

Hohe See Offshore Substation

The Hohe See substation platform is part of the offshore wind farm of the same name in the German North Sea.
SK Korrosion implemented the complete surface protection for the primary and secondary structures, including blasting, priming, intermediate coating, and topcoating. In addition, slip-resistant flooring was applied to the platform and working decks.

Merkur Offshore Substation

The Merkur offshore substation supplies one of Germany’s largest offshore wind farms.
SK Korrosion performed surface treatment and coating work on the supporting structure, the topside area, and the access and rescue systems. The work included blasting, airless coating with highly resistant offshore systems, and sealing to protect against saltwater exposure.

Johan Sverdrup

The Johan Sverdrup oil field is the third-largest oil field offshore Norway, expected to produce 690,000 barrels of oil after 2022. It consists of five bridge-based platforms with a water depth of approximately 120 m, located 140 m west of Stavanger.
SK Korrosion provided surface protection services for 20 stacks and 20 jacket leg sections within the SIF facilities and supplied these components for this prestigious project.

Kernkraftwerk Stade

The Stade Nuclear Power Plant (KKS) operated from 1972 to 2003 in Stadersand near the Schwinge estuary on the Elbe River. It was the first nuclear power plant in Germany to be shut down after the nuclear phase-out and is currently being dismantled.
SK Korrosion was responsible for dismantling steel fastenings with the help of rope access technicians.

Allseas / Pioneering Spirit

The “Pioneering Spirit” is a large deepwater pipelay vessel. At the time of construction, it was the world’s largest pipelay vessel, measuring 382 meters in length and weighing 400,000 tons. When fully operational, it will have a crew of 571, a pipe carrying capacity of 27,000 tons, and a pipelaying speed of more than 5 km per day.
SK Korrosion was involved in the surface protection of the new stringer structure for the “Pioneering Spirit.”

Leuchtrum Campen Lighthouse

The Campen Lighthouse is an active lighthouse in the village of Campen, Lower Saxony. At 64 m tall, it is the 14th tallest traditional lighthouse in the world and the tallest in Germany.
SK Korrosion was involved in the surface protection and maintenance of the existing lighthouse.
